Gallery Statement

"Miles To Go", a gallery curated through the creative lens of Cincinnati artist Trevor Biggs.

The Aperture and Trevor collaborated to lead viewers through a visual exploration of Movement and Distance through Mediterranean Influences.

The collection features eleven images strategically placed around the Walnut Hills restaurant, creating a dynamic tapestry that will evolve over time. Trevor draws inspiration from his experiences in Italy, France and Croatia, where seven of the images were captured. The remaining four images capture the landscapes of Ohio, embodying the seamless coexistence of images taken thousands of miles apart—an analogy for the ethos of the new mezze-style restaurant.

Every shot in this collection was captured on film, adding an extra layer of significance that resonates with the restaurant's name. The term "aperture" refers to a space through which light passes in an optical lens and holds a pivotal role in photography, particularly with film. It is not just a technical component; it's the meaning of intentionality. When you're behind the lens of a film camera, intention guides every moment. Whether you're aiming to emphasize the intricate details in a shadow or capture the softness of someone's skin, getting the aperture right is crucial. Creating the right balance of settings is key to capturing the perfect shot, ensuring that each image reflects the beauty and precision intended.

Balance is the key to intention.
