Gallery Statement

"Miles To Go", a gallery curated through the creative lens of Cincinnati artist Trevor Biggs.

The Aperture and Trevor, who is also the Creative Director of the restaurant, collaborated to lead viewers through a visual exploration of Movement and Distance through Coastal and Mediterranean Influences.

The collection features eleven images strategically placed around the Walnut Hills restaurant, creating a dynamic tapestry that will evolve over time. This is the Fall/Winter (second) collection. Trevor draws inspiration from his experiences near the North Atlantic Ocean, North Sea & the Mediterranean.

The term "Aperture" refers to a space through which light passes in an optical lens and holds a pivotal role in photography. It is not just a technical component though; it's the meaning of intentionality and core of the restaurant. When you're behind the lens of a camera, intention guides every moment. Whether you're aiming to emphasize the intricate details in a shadow or capture the softness of someone's skin, getting the aperture right is crucial. Creating the right balance of settings is key to capturing the perfect shot, ensuring that each image reflects the beauty and precision intended. The restaurant feels similarly in the way they want light and color perceived while dining there.

When dining or visiting the restaurant you will notice one color image in the gallery placed in the kitchen. This is intentional. The image taken at Claude Monets Giverny home at the end of winter, is a reminder to the kitchen that they are the in control, they are color makers, the impressionists.

When I think of the fall I think of seeing coats in Paris, I think of fog rolling over the hills of the Faroe Islands and I think of the impressionists painting light in a way where you can feel the wind hitting the coast.

In short, balance is the key to intention
